Description

It is a project that has accompanied me throughout this Martian opposition.

After hesitations on various models, I ended up making a choice, which I think will create comments.

My approach is based on three important constatations for me.

When I look at these magnificent views of the deep sky, I most often see a main object naturally integrated into a field or background, rich in colored stars, galaxies and nebulae that reinforce the beauty of the image.

In planetary, this is not the case. The main object most often appears on a black background. It must alone possess all the required qualities, details and colors, to the point that we must, for example, enrich an image of full moon or quarter with a starry background, multiply the plans and orientations of the same planet, invent montages, etc.

My next observation is that we are talking here about an opposition (or a conjunction) between two planets, Earth and Mars, whereas our images obviously only show Mars.

I know, hard to image the Earth.. and I can't afford a seat on the ISS.

However, since the Apollo missions, we are fortunate to have images of our planet.

Second, it is very likely that in a few decades, amateur astronomers will be able from space or the Moon to image an Earth-Mars conjunction. So why deprive ourselves today of a future reality?

Finally, when I gathered Mars and Earth in this image, it seemed to me that it was obviousness.

These two planets have a common history, one is the cradle of humanity, the other probably our future. There is like a symbol to present them together.

On the other hand, and in fact what follows from it, is that the beauty of each of these planet is revealed by the presence of the other. The aesthetics of the image, which remains our ambition as an amateur astronomer, regains its place.

Finally, I would quote Einstein:

"He who can no amazement or surprise is practically dead, his eyes are closed."

Thank you to everyone who read me.
